I like that Ptolemy quote! and thanks for the info! I like this star feature.
What about that May 6 meteor shower then? I wonder will we see it from Devon. (if the skies are clear enough). I saw a meteor shower in Greece a few summers ago. That was awesome.
Had to check up about The Rapture. . Didn't know what Rapture, capital R, meant. Enough rapture for me right now, in seeing the full moon rise all deep orange and huge, like it did this month.

Hi cc, and thanks for the compliments
It's not a fantastically well known meteor shower, but worth mentioning at a projected 20 meters per hour (during the max). If you don't get a clear night on the 6th, try any clear night either side, and it's always possible to see any stray meteors on any clear night of course, I see the most when I'm not expecting them
I'm with you, I knew nothing about the Rapture until I read of someone being scared by the prophesy, and I was completely bowled over by the awesome perigee full moon in March
Here's to clear skies

Well we had a lovely clear night here last night and I went out about 11pm to try out my brand new binos (birthday from my partner) and inbetween selecting objects to enhance I managed to clock 3 meteors although they were very high up, directly overhead and extremely fast - blink and you'd miss 'em

Hullo GB!
Nice present! Binocs. We had some, but I think we left them at a music venue. Much better to look at stars, rather than rockstars. haha. .
You've seen meteors? That's amazing. I thought it was May 6th? So they start before, and max on the 6th. I get it. We've got scuzzy sludgy rainclouds here right now. Grrr. Still time for them to clear.
Now I want to learn about meteors. OK so I'm not the brightest star in the pack when it comes to learning technical stuff. Is it possible to define a meteor in two easy paragraphs, (with diagrams and free popcorn)... ?
