Blimey, Researcher 207089! You've got me wishing my Entry had been a little less light-hearted!
King Stephen was actually my 'specialist subject' for History B.A., and I can remember virtually nothing about it! Except, of course, for the name R.H.C. Davis, eternally etched into my memory There was a lot of primary source work as well, as I recall. I'll have to have a think. The basic argument is 'Everyone says he's rubbish - but he wasn't that bad really was he? Just unlucky.' You can't go wrong with that!
Must be a really good college you're at though, if they offer you the option of studying a relatively obscure monarch!

That piece on Stephen is great, Natalie.
A fun but historical look at, as you say, a relatively unknown figure, without descending (or 'reaching the comic heights of' ) into 1066 and All That!
Or, in other words, *i* liked it.

Why thank you Spiff!
Your work in progress on the French Revolution is making me feel rather humble though...
Sellar and Yeatman's masterpiece is my favourite book.
