...it *was* made for a good cause.

Yes, it did basically recycle the plot of Time Crash, but I suspect there's only so many stories you can tell in seven minutes on one set with a minimal cast that aren't utterly fatuous.

I was a little surprised by the scheduling - not just by the fact it was on at the same time as the Time of Angels repeat (which I watched and thus missed the original broadcast), but by the fact that some of jokes were a little... hmmm... they were a long way up the finger for a family audience.

But then I liked Curse of Fatal Death as well (the last Moffat-scripted Comic Relief thing which you mentioned). Interesting to see the timey-wimeyness was there even back then. The 'Dalek bumps' joke and others aside, it did contain the wonderful 'you're just too silly to die' speech and three minutes of brilliance from Hugh Grant as the Doctor.

And - possibly the most important thing of all - all of the previously mentioned score major points simply for not being Dimensions in Time. Say no more.

And it is good publicity for the new series. Keeping Doctor Who in the public eye is always a good thing - it means that there will still be Doctor Who. It's when Doctor Who is not invited to contribute to Children In Need and Red Nose Day that we have to start worrying.

I was surprised about the jokes about Amy's skirt. Bit shocking that early...

Like I said, I got the distinct impression Moffy had a post-watershed timeslot in mind...

Definitely better than the very childish last Red Nose Day Who-Universe contribution - the Sarah-Jane Adventures clip with Ronnie Corbett and the deadly deely boppers of doom.

Well, SJA *is* a children's programme, and if you're not going to do puerile jokes during an episode with a Slitheen in it...
