The Final Arrangments

Post 1

Abi

The Final Arrangements for the day are:

If you are coming to the afternoon shenanigans you should meet the Editorial team in the courtyard of Somerset House at 2pm. Mina and Abi will cross you off the RSVP list and relieve you of a tenner, in exchange for which you will be given a voucher for the Evening festivities. There are two options for the afternoon, Abi will be taken the active sorts on a walking tour of the cultural highspots of Alwdych and Temple. Mina will be hosting a board game tournament in a local pub. The nearest tube station to Somerset House is Temple. If you are taking part in the board game marathon, please let Mina know so the pub she is taking you too can reserve some space.

From six pm onwards we will be partying in the downstairs bar at Penderel's oak, a nice pub on High Holborn halfway between Holborn and Chancery Lane Tube stations. There will be a big buffet, a pub quiz and plenty of time to get to chat to your fellow researchers. There are plenty of vegitarian options on the buffet menu.

Please note that if you are coming only to the Evening section, we are not allowed to sell tickets on the door as this could cause the pub to lose their license, which means you will be forced to drink non-alcoholic drinks. So you should come into the bar and search out Abi or Mina who will be no where near the door.

Thanks

Abi

smiley - erm from the page on the meet:
"If all this sounds too much like hard work, then why not
exercise your brain in the h2g2 Board Games Challenge. This is to be held in the Shakespeare's Head, Holborn, and will include the h2g2 Top Trumps Challenge".

I think it will be happening from about 2 Onwards; or how long it takes people to get from teh meeting place at 2 PM to the pub smiley - erm though I'm not sure what time it will go on to, I imagine I might just be there at about 3 so wouldn't be thinkging of leaving till gone 4 smiley - biggrin depending how far the evening joint is away, I think they are in teh same rough geological location smiley - biggrinsmiley - ale

The Shakespeare's Head is on Kingsway very close to Holborn tube station; basically turn left out of the tube and you're practically there. smiley - smiley

Zantic - Who is this woman??

Holbourn is 2 stops away from kins cross on the Picachilli line, so it'll most likely take about 10 minutes in a cab (accounting for traffick eta) 2legs.. smiley - winkeye
