Hey, you forgot to mention the three basic types of USA chess: There is basic chess (people who know how to play, but are very bad, and the game gets boring fast.) Then you have Coffee Shop Chees (where the players sit in a peaceful area, playing anywhere from one to twelve games of chess, thouroughly enjoying themselves, and having nice, cool, refreshing drinks.) Lastly, there is Tournament Chess. This is the part where the Russians come in to 'show superiority' as you say, although one or two Americans have (believe it or not) actually beaten a few Russians at chess. Tournament play in the USA can be done by either joining USCF at http://www.uschess.org, or by joining USCA. I have no idea where to join USCA as I am mainly interested in USCF.
