There's a lot to think through here, Jordan. Thanks for pulling this together. I thought I'd got my head around it all and find I han't quite.... 
I've got a diagram based on my conversation with Pin, but I cannot get it up onto Google Docs. Perhaps Z will do it for me.
Now, let me do some of that thinking I mentioned.
