A Conversation for Talking Point: Peace in the Middle East
Bush and Sharon's "disengagement" plan
combattant pour liberte Started conversation Apr 16, 2004
The war criminal, and champion of the Jewish colonial moovement Ariel Sharon, Israeli Prime Minister and the Butcher of Sabra and Chatila, "a man of peace" (according to Bush) has announced Israel will leave Gaza but will keep illegal Jewish settlements on the West Bank (and presumably East Jerusalem and the Syrian Golan Heights) in perpetuity and that 5 million Palestinian refugees will be denied their right of return to their homes in what is now Israel.
And any Palestinian "state" in the remaining land given to the Palestinians will apparently have its border and airspace controlled by Israel and be completely defenceless with no Palestinian military being allowed. It will instead be a disjointed collection of Bantustans with Jewish colonial fortresses everywhere, taking the best land and the majority of water.
This has been supported by US President George W. Bush, invader of Afghanistan and Iraq, killer of over 14 000 civilians.
I guess I should have expected this from a meeting of the aggressor (Sharon) and his paymaster (Bush). But Bush has gone further than any American President in official appeasement of Israeli colonial occupation and ethnic cleansing, throwing of 5 decades of UN resolutions and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights out the window.
Bush has expressed his support for illegal Jewish settlements (or colonies) on stolen Palestinian land in the West Bank, declaring it "unrealistic" for Israel to end this war crime. He has supported the refusual to give 5 million Palestinian refugees their inalienable right to return to the homes they were forced to leave 56 years ago, legitimising ethinic cleansing.
And yet the Israeli governmnet maintains that every Jew in the world has a right of return to Israel.
This is complete insanity. The Israeli and US governments have now should loud and clear they do not want peace in the Middle East. Israeli oppression of the Palestinians will now apparently never end.
