I agree, this entry should not be abandoned, psychocandy. C'mon, don't be shy about being plastered on the front page! (Don't worry, it'll quickly become a semi-obscure bit of knowledge anyhow, but I digress ) I think it's an excellent entry, non-British English and all. After all, I personally believe in giving the subeds something to scrabble around and work at with the entries, so why not make it dealing with annoying American English?
In all seriousness, you still missed the .0625 miles error - it should be 0.625 miles that is just under a kilometer (just move over that decimal point and you've got it).
You really should let this get edited. I've been to Chicago and have not been to Navy Pier (yet), but now I am interested in going to see it, as a direct result of reading this article. Seems to me that's what the Guide (particularly the Edited portion) is all about!

The .0625 bit stuck out to me too. But the sub can fix that. Otherwise, it looks like a superb entry! I've been to Navy Pier, and it was worth the trip, and this is worth a place in the Edited Guide.
psychocandy - we'd all really like to see this in the EG. Can it be put in? You wouldn't have to do any more work
Congratulations - Your Entry has been Picked for the Edited Guide!

Your Guide Entry has just been picked from Peer Review by one of our Scouts, and is now heading off into the Editorial Process, which ends with publication in the Edited Guide. We've therefore moved this Review Conversation out of Peer Review and to the entry itself.
If you'd like to know what happens now, check out the page on 'What Happens after your Entry has been Recommended?' at EditedGuide-Process. We hope this explains everything.
Thanks for contributing to the Edited Guide!

Just to reassure Psychocandy, we've accepted this entry so that your original can remain in the form you want it to be without you having to make changes that you'd prefer not to make. Although the Edited Guide version will be sub-edited according to the house style, your original remains untouched and part of the Unedited Guide exactly as you submitted it.
Great piece of writing, and we're honoured to accept it into the EG.

Thank you very much for letting me keep my original, as well, by the way. I'm very flattered by all of your compliments, if a bit embarrassed. I didn't expect so many people to like it!

By the way, I've also made two minor modifications today, one to correct a grammatical error (the horror!), and one to reflect, as a courtesy to other researchers, that the operating hours of the Pier are Central Standard Time. Just in case anyone plans to visit from out of town.
Key: Complain about this post
