Just get one of these and you'll be fine, it can be either a head/halfstack or combo! smiley - smiley

My main amp is 160 watts, all valve. Very heavy (both weight and sound wise) and it gets so warm it has to have an inbuilt cooling fant!

Peavey Roadmaster "Vintage Tube Series". Despite being frequently lauded as the best amp Peavey ever made, it can be found dirt cheap. I got mine for £180! smiley - cool

Run through a decent 4x12 it's absolutely wonderful. My main guitar has P-90s and those combined with a shedload of fuzz into an amp that's already dialled in to break up a bit is just fantastic.

At some point though I'm goint to save up for a less powerful combo so I can play easier at more neighbour friendly volumes. I live in a terraced house after all!

My main guitar started life as an entry level Ibanez "Fat Strat" from the early 90s... it's made of bloody plywood for Bob's sake! (the difference between plywood and laminate in guitar construction? How much they want to charge for it!).

The only original parts are the body and neck, everything from the tuners to the strap buttons were replaced... and my FiL re-routed the neck pickup slot to take a P-90. I now have a wonderful and (until recently, when Yamaha released the Pacifica 311H) unique instrument.

woohoo! theres something about us guitarists smiley - biggrin I have a squat strat fitted with EMG's and a few other mods, but that sounds and plays great too! wanted a gibson but they are so shoddily made, picked up a LP in a shop one and the body fell off, seen the quality of the neck joint and enquired about having something made, £200 cheaper then the equlivent gibson came they reply, hence the waghorn smiley - biggrin

I've never tried actives... The closest I've got to that territory is some high-output ceramics I've got on a Jackson that's destined to get some nice warm Alnico Vs at some point.

I'm a recent convert to IronGear pickups. Very good stuff at very cheap prices!
