Opti, are you sure you're not taking too much on at once? You do seem to have a lot of entries about film stars in Peer Review just now in various states of completion... smiley - erm

Just a few bits of feedback to start with. Your blockquotes should be laid out a little differently:

The song has ended, but the melody lingers on.
- Gene Kelly in 1994's That's Entertainment III

No quote marks, and the quote itself (plus any film titles) in italics, and a tag to break the quote from the credit for whoever said the line.

You repeat the line: "Eugene Curran Kelly was born on August 23, 1912 " in the next section. I'd suggest changing the second use of the sentence so that it says "Eugene Curran Kelly was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA"

Also, with dates, the order is number monthCOMMA yearCOMMA.

So, 23 August, 1912,

'The Five Kellys' and 'The Gene Kelly Studio of Dance' shouldn't be italicised.

Hope this helps smiley - smiley

First read through .... just a couple of suggestions ...

He later acquired the stage name Gene Kelly

He took on the stage name, Gene Kelly

He was the third child to be born of five children to James Kelly
He was the third of five children born to James Kelly

Kelly first had his first taste of dancing and fame when he was just eight years old and appeared in The Five Kellys which included Jay, Jim, Gene, Louise, and Fred. However, dancing was not his first love.

The Five Kellys - film, vaudeville act, local family troupe? - which? - where did they perform? - film or stage?

Jay, Jim, Gene, Louise, and Fred
his siblings Jay, Jim, Louise, and Fred
(assuming that they were his brothers and sister) if he appeared with them he should not be included in the list

Kelly preferred gymnastics, ice hockey, swimming, football, and baseball over dancing. Which he later grew to love especially as it made him popular with the girls.

Kelly preferred gymnastics, ice hockey, swimming, football, and baseball over dancing, especially as it made him popular with girls. He even had hopes, at one time, of becoming a professional baseball player with the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Kelly saw dancing as an athletic sport as he revealed in the television programme Dancing: A Man's Game.
As he revealed years later, in the television programme Dancing: A Man's Game, Kelly saw dancing as an athletic sport.

Whether people believe that Kelly was right about dancing being athletic or not, one thing is for certain it helped him win fights. Such as those that occurred when him and his brother travelled home from their dance classes.

His athletic prowess certainly helped him win the fights that occurred when he and his brother, Fred, travelled home from their dance classes.

Gene and his brother appeared in the show ‘The Kelly Brothers’ and danced to the music of Cab Calloway. They also were quick to pick up on new dance crazes and make them their own.

Gene and Fred formed ‘The Kelly Brothers’ a dance duo which appeared on local amateur nights and once danced to the music of Cab Calloway himself. They were quick to pick up on new dance crazes and make them their own.

In 1932, Kelly’s father and mother set up The Gene Kelly Studio of Dance, with one studio in Pittsburgh and one in Johnstown.

Well, not really ... the studio was set up by Gene Kelly as a family concern - his mother was manager and his father kept the books.

Gene, Louise, and Fred acted as its teachers and put as much time into the business, while trying to keep up with their University studies too.
Gene, Louise, and Fred taught and put as much time as possible into the business, while trying to keep up with their University studies.

It was through these dance schools that Gene learnt the basics in choreography and directing, as he helped put on dance shows at the Pittsburgh Playhouse and the University of Pittsburgh.

smiley - sorry but I think it's more likely that
Gene learnt the basics in directing and further skills in choreography when he helped put on dance shows at the Pittsburgh Playhouse and the University of Pittsburgh.
(you don't learn much about directing running dance schools smiley - laugh )

Sadly teaching was not enough for Gene to help him get through his studies financially because of the depression. Therefore, he found himself also working in several jobs such as ditch-digging and working as a soda jerk.
Gene graduated, in 1933, from the University of Pittsburgh as an economics major and went on to study law, but, because of the depression, teaching was not enough for Gene to help him get through his studies and he also worked in several jobs such as ditch-digging and working as a soda jerk.

Broadway called in 1938 and Gene left teaching for the big screen.

- not the screen -

Next Gene worked as a choreographer for Diamond Horseshoe. Where he met and fell in love with Betsy Blair who was only 16 years old. She quickly developed a crush for Gene and in September 1941 the couple married. The following year saw in the birth of Gene’s first child Kerry, but sadly when Kerry was fifteen the marriage of her parents ended in divorce.

During the early 1940s Gene was picked to play the leading role in Rodgers and Hart's Pal Joey. Pal Joey otherwise known as Joey Evans, was a sleazy nightclub owner who stops at nothing to get what he wants. It was during the summer break from the show that Kelly choreographed George Abbott's Best Foot Forward.

Silver Screen Beckons - this heading should go above the preceding paragraph

Finally, in 1942 Kelly made his big Hollywood debut and first motion picture in the form of For Me and My Gal, with Judy Garland. Kelly’s role was similar to that of Joey Evans. Kelly found that dancing on film was different to dancing on stage in front of a live audience. The film was a triumphant success, which led to Hollywood believing Kelly had a future with them, even though they still weren’t sure what to do with him.

I'm sorry ....

The reason I left off was because this was sending "deja vu" bells off in my head.

Please look at this link - it's very close to what you have written - a little too close - I think that your entry needs lots of re wording

Thats the problem with things that have already been written about on the web. They look like other articles. I admit that quite a few of my articles are inspired by other articles but I have tried to put these entries in my own words. Not a copy and paste job.

I'm sorry, but I feel that it's a little more than "inspired by" - some of the wording and most of the structure is almost identical.

I will not be continuing with my corrections until it is substantially rewritten.
