Campsite in the Danish Beech Forest
Santragenius V Started conversation Aug 15, 2002
This campsite sits in a small rounded clearing in the forest. A medium sized dome tent is raised towards one side. The tall trees around keep the tent in shadow in the mornings - during the late afternoons and early evenings, the area in front of the tent is bathed in gentle, golden rays.
In front of the tent is a nice fireplace with logs around to sit on. A camp table has been built near the fireplace - a pioneer construction of spars and staves, lashed together with sisal rope. A rough, yet comfortable construction with shelves underneath holding a few pots and pans, clearly used over the fire. A few camp chairs sits around waiting for somebody to sit on them...
A small creek is flowing happily a few meters into the forest, providing the freshest water imaginable
A small note is attached to the tent:
Resort Manager's camp site. If I'm not here, please drop a message

Hmmm - now, where...?
*sits at the table, looks around, makes a few sketchy drawings on a crumbled piece of paper*

Oh dear - a looong break that was. But otoh, as you'll all know, "The history of The Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy is one of (however the list goes) and enormously long lunch-breaks"
*proceeds to saw, hammer and bang away - now and then diverting to dig some holes...*

Taaaaa Daaaaaaaaa
A homebuilt shelter - right in time for the outdoor season
*The structure, built of cedar logs, has a floor of smooth planks about a meter over the ground and a roof which slants away towards the rear so that the open front is higher than the rear wall. About a meeter in front of the shelter, a raised fireplace has been made, offering warmth and cosiness when lying in the shelter*
So - now it's just a case of getting the mat and sleeping bag out here...

*Rools out mat and sleepingbag and produces thermos with and homemade elderflower drink and loads of books from the library*

*appears from out of nowhere, puts a few logs on the fire*
Visitors Hi tartaronne - nice to see you!
*deftly arranges sleeping bag in the shelter, rummages in backpack to bring out some and a mug*
Trade some of that for some of this ?

logs come in very handy now and then - they tend to burn a very long time. Like as long as you want them to...
*sits and enjoy *
Hmmm - it somehow looks like morning to me - what happened...?

Impressive wildlife here, isn't it?
Life's good in the wild - actually just came back on Sat from a RL week in the mountains in the north of the Czech Republic. Fab . Took me all of Sunday to come home mentally - it was just so good, so intense, so much being away from the humdrum. It should go into a journal entry - but let's see...
Right now I'm too busy sitting here doing nothing much
