Until I actually thought about it I hadn't noticed how insidiously objectionable Heather Graham nearly always is. Hmm.

Like I said, I thought it was funnier than IMOM but not quite as good as TSWSM. I don't find Fat B*****d especially funny either, but I think Myers enjoys showing off his Scottish accent (see also 'So I Married An Axe Murderer!').

*Everywhere* I go the LOTR DVD seems to be on sale - supermarkets, bookshops, patisseries (well, okay, I made one of them up). I was surprised at how easy it was to resist the urge to buy.

I resisted really really well - until I suddenly realised that I really did want to own the version I saw in the cinema.
Otherwise I think I would just have hired it occasionally till November.

Yes Myers does enjoy showing off that accent - and it's good - but why would Dreamworks want to pay however much for him to do a Scottish accent for Shrek, when they could have got a Scottish actor much cheaper?
I mean, I might go and see a live action film for Mike Myers, but not an animated for his voice.

Well, for one thing I understand that the deal on cartoons etc is that all the actors involved work 'for scale' ie basic union rate - it's just the way it's traditionally done. Megastars don't get their usual megapay-packets, but they do get to have fun and earn their kids' respect. So they can hire big names for little cash (big names help with getting publicity for the film).

And for another, Shrek wasn't Scottish in the book or the script, that was Myers' idea again (that accent of his, he's got an unhealthy obsession with it). I think they tried quite hard to talk him out of it but he could not be swayed.

I intend to hang on until the whole LOTR trilogy comes out as a boxed set and pick it up then on DVD. That alone should be worth the price of a player...

believe me - the version I have now is worth getting a dvd player for - it looks sooo amazing, and the sound is fab too, even on my bog-standard telly.

I don't know what they're going to have left to put into a huge boxed set of all three films by the autumn 2004 - if every DVD comes in as epic a set as the November release sounds like it is, I can't imagine there being much left!

I got the video. Because I like to say 'that wasn't in the book' (I also have Harry Potter).

I think you'll find that Austin Powers 3 had quite a lot more Fat B*****d than no. 1. He almost ruined no2 for me, any scene with him in had all the funniness lost.

What colour is puce anyway? Somewhere in between green and biege and pink?

What colour do you want to be when I get around to doing my 'list of people that I know' thing on the bottom of may page? It's gonna be short, but I want different colours to show that I can do them.

Puce is raffle-ticket green, I think.

Can I be purple, please? It has a kind of regality to it (well, that's what Samuel L Jackson always says. He has this thing about purple, I've noticed. He specifically asked for a purple saber in AOTC and spends most of Unbreakable in a purple rollneck too).

I loved Unbreakable, even if he did have really bad hair. smiley - weird ending though.

Maybe I should just have a list of purple people.
I can do two shades of purple, but since I've only asked two people so far...
