Yes it is. The Entry explains quite clearly the why and how of the movement, and alludes fairly to critics. A good way to present this possibly controversial topic, regardless of whether one agrees or finds it sensible or whatnot.

Not too sure what I'm taking issue with(in reply to your question) but I do disagree with the idea of BND but as you say this is PR and I have to own up to being easily distracted when I'm replying to something and I'll spend ages replying and then forget where I am and what was the reason for being here...... "Squirrel!
But I'll take it on advice that I should of asked the questions I've asked in a conversation thread and not in PR but if you'll put up with me for this post then I'll make sure it is my last on this particular thread and will start up a new thread somewhere else on the whole BND thing.
Just to reply to your assertions:
* The clue is in the name. * Is it? I'm sorry but I have no idea what 'Thanksgiving' is. What exactly are people giving thanks for?
*Or did you think the Sam Walton family took the midnight Walmart shift themselves?*
I'm sorry but I have no idea who Sam Walton is(TV series maybe?) and all I know about Walmart is that it's a shopping centre company in North America (I'm counting Canada in this).
Okay, back to the entry; you finish off with this:
* If commercialisation has become your least favourite Christmas tradition, consider an alternative: Buy Nothing Day.*
and if it hasn't then perhaps this guide entry is for you (insert link).
Would there be such a guide entry and is it the norm to link to an opposing view(which is hopefully covered in the Guide somewhere) ?

Keith, I already linked to the opposing viewpoint. This entry already has lots of links to appropriate Guide entries, including Black Friday, A Shoppers' Bliss entry and Harvest Festival/Thanksgiving. All a reader need do is click the link embedded in the text. The links also appear in all their click-able glory along the right-hand side of the screen in all three skins.

Two quotes:
“We’re gathering information on pepper spray used while crowds of people were inside the Walmart in Kinston for Black Friday deal,” WITN reports. “Sgt. Roland Davis of Kinston Public Safety says Walmart hired off-duty police officers to help with security during their Black Friday event today. Davis says an officer was trying to quell a disturbance and make an arrest, and used pepper spray. No further details are available from police at this time.”
2.
A customer shot pepper spray at other customers at a busy Northridge Wal-Mart store late Thursday night, causing minor injuries to at least 10 people who had been waiting hours for Black Friday savings, according to Los Angeles firefighters and a police lieutenant. The Associated Press later reported 20 injuries.
"It was an unhappy customer'' who spritzed pepper spray at the Wal-Mart, 19821 Rinaldi Street, at 10:10 p.m., said Lt. Abel Parga at the Los Angeles Police Department's Devonshire station. The suspect then left the store.
end quote
But remember, Megan Kelley of Fox News says pepper spray is actually harmless, because it's a "food product". Also.

Yep, noticed that.
I'll take my questions about T/giving and S.Walton to the conversation boards for answers.
Cheers

I think this is an informative overview of a movement that we should know much more about. As HN has stated, she has included a link to the Entry entitled Black Friday.
I think this is ready for selection now.

The only thing I would have liked to see in this entry that's not there is an estimate for how many people participate, but I don't see how even the organisers could come up with an estimate that wasn't wildly inaccurate.
So yes, I agree. Ready to go!

Your Guide Entry has just been picked from Peer Review by one of our Scouts, and is now heading off into the Editorial Process, which ends with publication in the Edited Guide. We've moved this Review Conversation out of Peer Review and to the entry itself.
If you'd like to know what happens now, check out the page on 'What Happens after your Entry has been Recommended?' at EditedGuide-Process. We hope this explains everything.
Thanks for contributing to the Edited Guide!
