Yeah! Especially the lighter fluid! Hence the stomach pump. The winos on the street can't afford stomach pumps.

I am waaay too young (or female) for this conversation. The only thing I can actually remembr about this film (since I haven't seen it) is that Wayne's World had a spoof of a part of it.

Did Wayne's World have a spoof of Withnail & I in it? Where? As for your gender, well, there's always corrective surgery

DoctorMO (Keeper of the Computer, Guru, Community Artist) Posted Jul 25, 2002
What is there to correct? (appart from some peoples attatudes.)
I realy didn't like Waynes world, but only people I was too young at the time.

Tried watching Wayne's World, gave up in despair after about fifteen minutes. Which is weird cos I really like the Austin Powers movies...

I have this terrible sense of dread about Goldmember; is it going to be funny? Or is Myers just going to trot out the dwarfs again and pull a funny face at the camera? I *loved* the first one, liked the second one...where is this headed? The Law of Diminishing Returns strikes again.
Sentimental Cop Out?
Awix Posted Jul 25, 2002
That's my worry too, the second one succeeded because it just went crazy with absurd stuff like Dr Evil rapping and appearing on Jerry Springer, stuff you'd never have expected from the first one. I just wonder if he's going to be able to surprise the audience in quite the same way again. Fingers crossed...

They showed a clip from it on 'V. Graham Norton' (are you familiar with it? or maybe you're one of our American cousins). Powers is being introduced to a mole in Dr Evils lair, but the mole had a big MOLE on his face, so Powers has to avoid the word...
Now this joke is a direct steal from Wayne's World 2, except in that case it was a man with a glass eye. When a comedian starts cannibalising his own material, the rot has set in.
It was funnier in WW, too.

Awix Posted Jul 25, 2002
No, I saw that. I don't normally watch Graham Norton, but I'm glad I caught that edition - the bit where they rang up Dr E. Ville and his receptionist said Myers' Dr Evil impression wasn't too bad made me scream with laughter.
I dunno, the last movie beat at least one joke to death and resurrected several others. And they're always slightly hit-and-miss affairs...

I'm curiously ashamed to admit that I watch it fairly regularly. The best moment for me so far has been in a show with Isaac Hayes. Graham had chatted to a fan on the phone for a moment, then handed it over to Isaac. The fan was totally thrilled, and after talking to Isaac he told Graham that if he was ever on the west coast 'I'll get yo some pussy, man'. Maybe it loses something in the translation.
Anyway, Goldmember. Yeah, fingers crossed.

Awix Posted Jul 25, 2002
I saw an episode of the old Friday night show with Joan Collins where they rang up a fan who clearly got rather... erm... excited at speaking to her.
Anything Isaac Hayes gets involved with always stands a chance of being very memorable. For whatever reason...

I liked the first two Austin Powers (and have never seen Wayne's World) - but then I adore Dr Evil...
I'm worried about the third since I sincerely lament the return of Fat B*****d.

Wayne's world 2, the guy who talks in a monotone about getting 5000 brown m&m's to fill a abrandy glass so someone would go on stage, broke into a sweetshop, had to beat people to death with their own shoes. Or I may be thinking of another film.
I couldn't deal with the scottish guy on AP2, (also mike myers, name would require ***) made me go 'ick' every time he came on so nothing in that scene was funny.

I meant AP2 not WW2

I know, talking about WW earlier and the guy was a spoof of something that may have been 'Withnail and I', but may not.
