Will do.
I'm assuming you know Kurt Vonnegut, Jr, the inspiration of my college days. In case you don't - or anybody else doesn't:

For a discussion of the 'Sirens of Titan':

What is a chronosynclastic infundibulum? A way of becoming, in Vonnegut's words, 'unstuck in time', and for some, a consummation devoutly to be wished:

Er, wait, maybe a saner explanation would help:

Note that we here learn a new adjective, infundibulate, meaning shaped like an infundibulum. I suspect Nigel's view of the universe to be somewhat infundibulate, as my hero's approach to knowledge is to attempt to funnel it all into the arena of total, simultaneous understanding, on the order of 'only connect'. A funnel, of course, can usefully be turned upside down and covered with tinfoil...
Bel is right, and I was wrong to be annoyed when she published a gloss to one of my cartoons.
I don't know what it says that I create cartoons that need translations...
...other than that a picture is supposed to be WORTH a thousand words, darn it, not require a thousand....

Splendid information and thankyou, my friend, for the enlightenment and facts and configurations and wisdoms. Now KV Jr is so much more than just a name. Note the KV Jr. . I am attempting to sound worldly and exceptionally cool. As if .... .
I type this from a sofa in an hotel lobby, beside a Christmas tree that is covered in fake snow, as if we need to see fake snow. hahah.
What would KV Jr have to say about fake snow, I wonder?
And what does it say that you create cartoons that need translations? Well, if I were the artist I would take it as a compliment because art can open mysterious doors which sometimes need indexes or glossaries or maps or free coffee . Erm .... Of course, it depends who is asking. Remember I need a map just to leave my room .
It is an interesting debate in fact. Some artists might not wish to issue maps or free coffee..... I will continue with this debate later. Have to travel through the Ice Age to try to get home. Need maps, art and free coffee .
I may be gone sometime. Oh no! Back soon .

I am quite sure that Kurt Vonnegut would have had interesting things to say about fake snow in an English lobby during a blizzard....
And thank you for the compliment. The idea that there is at least one person out there who doesn't think I out to be more closely supervised gives me hope..........oh, who am I kidding?
Now, don't go quoting those polar explorers, and tell a certain party he's probably holding the map upside down...

Home safe. We only lost five huskies on the way. Had to walk the last quarter of a mile, (true), as the hill up to our neighbourhood was iced, and everyone was slithering backwards into another road - and all because some idiot had stolen the council salt stash. So we, like heroes of the Antarctic, used our private salt stash for the benefit of everyone. And now we will go to Husky Heaven.
OK, so where was I? ah yes, art. And its meaning. An interesting question.I love the mystery of meaning. I love that funny void, that space, between meanings, because sometimes other pictures are born into it that the artist didn't plan. I love it when a piece of art puzzles me and I ask questions. When it is beyond my sphere of understanding. Mindbenders. That way art takes me on a journey.
Sort of thing, like. Know what I mean??
Thanks Gheorgheniplex, for offering me mystery that makes me think and takes me into other dimensions, even though my maps are upside down.

Our high school mascot was the Husky. The Husky spent the summers across the street from us, keeping company with the coach's pug.
Glad you made it home. Celebrate with warm drinks.
Spaces between spaces for art......yep...
Key: Complain about this post
