A Conversation for Talking Point: Christmas Cheer?

Malabarista - now with added pony Started conversation Dec 15, 2010
This year is different for me, because it's the first time I'm living away from home. Not just "living in my own flat" away or "living in a different city" away, but in a different country, so that I can't just spontaneously take a train or four and see my family. And since getting together with family (both the immediate family at Christmas and the extended family on Boxing Day) is my favourite part of Christmas, I'm just looking forward to it all the more this year.
The early snow has also helped put me in the spirit - as have all the work Christmas events. Not the dinner-and-a-disco for staff, but the things we're putting on for the public, the choir concerts and Santa visits and so on. I was afraid working on those every weekend would leave me grumpy and annoyed at Christmas, but so far my job has mostly consisted of helping with the horse and carriage (which might get annoying if I did it every day, but at the moment, the pony-to-Mala ratio is just right .) And all the visitors are so cheerful, must be the mulled wine and mince pies we feed them...
So yes, bring on Christmas, as long as I don't have to decorate any more trees!
