Interesting. I did feel let down a little by this entry, though, because it seemed a little defensive and west-centric, somehow. Surely these Japanese 'magical girls' can stand on their own without reference to the heroes of other cultures?
Oh, and the title is intriguing, but personally I prefer titles which more clearly explain the contents of the entry: 'Japanese Magical Girls', perhaps?
good stuff

Hiya, I've only heard of the card captors out of the lot of them, but I like the subject. There are far to few 'heroes' for girls.
Couple of points
You've probably copied your article from Word as it has those ‭ symbols periodically placed thorough out it, just needs changing to the real characters.
It needs a little more structure, intro, headings for each section. I'm not sure if you've written it in GuideML but it is very easy to do in there. It makes it easier to read.
"and they relie on the users desire to the defeat of evil."
change to - rely
The bit at the bottom won't be allowed to stay as it is written in the first person, 'fraid you have to put your article in 3rd person.
Good job

Given that the author hasn't addressed any of the points made here, can this one be moved out of Peer Review?

Zarquon's Singing Fish! Posted Jul 23, 2002
Hi Lucinda!
Nice to see you the other day! I've just checked Otaku's home space and she's an 11 year old girl. As school has just broken up, she may well have gone on holiday.
The entry could be an interesting one if there was better structure to it. What say we give her a couple of weeks to see if she does amend it.
Otaku! If you need any help with this, just ask.

I don't think you need a second in this case z, as the_otaku_witch hasn't posted at all for more than 3 months, and you don't need a second if the author has been away for 2 months, but I'll second anyway, just in case. It doesn't look like she is going to be back anytime soon, so I see no problem with this going to the flea market.

I've reworked some of the material in this entry here: A852275 . It's not in PR yet, so consider this a sneek preview. Do tell me what you think...

Good start . I take it that there is going to be more info after the sailor soldiers?
A bit of an intro to the sailor soldiers would be helpful, "another example are..." etc. As I wondered why the formatting had changed.
I'm sorry I'm going into peer review mode, and you haven't even finished yet!
Keep us informed

What kind of further information are you looking for here? I'd be wary of going overboard-the Sailor Senshi could pretty much occupy an entry of their own if you're not careful.
For my money, btw, I think it's worth altering the order of the pieces on Sailor Moon and the other examples. Whilst saint Joan is very popular, as are Sakura and Rayearth, Sailor Moon pretty much represents the blue print for the whole Magical Girls phenomena, and has remained *astoundingly* successful for the best part of 15 years, which in and of itself is pretty remarkable in Japan's ever changing comic market.
On the other hand, maybe the way to approach it is to use Usagi and her friends as an example of how the whole genre works, and use the other titles mentioned as examples of variations on a theme?
proud to own all 17 volumes of Sailor Moon, all 6 volumes of Rayearth and an almost complete set of Sakura. Which probably qualifies him as a dirty old man.

Well, let's put it like this...
I don't own any comics in this particular part of Manga.
I don't own any Manga comics.
I haven't read any Manga comics.
I did see a Manga comic once. But it was one of those adult ones and I was with my parents and a few years younger so I rather hurriedly looked away...
So I'm not really ideally placed to do anything with the entry - I just saw it in Flea Market, remembered it being pretty cool, and wandered what it would look like after some judicious editing - and whether that would be enough to make it EG-ready. Sadly not, I suspect. Though I don't know for sure, because of the above.
You see my dilemma?

No worries. I'm out tonight but should get a little ltime tomorrow-I'll get back to you with some ( hopefully) useful information - dates, creators, and some filling for the pie.
How does that sound?
