I dunno, maybe my favourite's Caribou. Yeah, and the introduction to Gigantic where the bassist sings those unnerving lyrics.

Mix?!
I thought people might think that it's a bit one sided (pink floyd, Dire straits, etc...)
How do you mean 'mix'?

No I've never heard it. I just remember my dad getting this album when I was about 7, I heard it then and rediscovered when I did the raid the collection bit when I was about 15. I've got the CD now because he got it for me so it's sort of a 'family classic' thing. I'll look out for it though.

that's the same deal with New Moon Shine and Gorrilas (two other James Taylor Albums) my dad used to play them all the time when we were kids and I rediscovered them a few years back, but that song on NMS that I was on abouty just makes me tingle, just in intro it's all guitar and pretty...god if I sound the man of my dreams who could play that I'd probably just about die.

What's Mott a Hoople like?

h2g2 Researchers' Top Ten CDs

Post 539

TeaKay

Mott The Hoople were massive for a few years in the late sixties/ early seventies, then they disappeared and no- one knows anything about them now.
Queen were their support band for a while, when Queen where just starting out- that's how I discovered Mott: I'm a big Queen fan and I heard they supported Mott, os I looked them up...
They're in the same sort of category as Queen- part glam, part rock and roll. I'd say the best decription would probably be 'Heavy Glam'. You'll probably even recognise a few of their songs if you heard them- All The Young Dudes is probably the most famous, written for them by David Bowie. You may also recognise Once Bitten Twice Shy, a solo venture in the 80's (I think) by Ian Hunter, Mott's lead singer.
I'd say that if you're into the likes of Queen, Bowie, T.Rex and some Slade, then Mott The Hoople are well worth a listen.
They are quite raw (very 60's), and have a very distinctive sound- the comparisons above are very lose comparisons.
