A Conversation for h2g2 Read Only Beta

The "Test" feature

Gnomon - time to move on

When a feature of the new system doesn't work, I don't know whether it's:

a) because you haven't implemented it yet
b) you've tried to implement it but there's a bug
c) you do not intend to implement it.

An example is the "test" feature. In the old h2g2, you could replace the "A" of an entry reference in the URL address bar with "test" and it would show you the GuideML code of the Entry. THis doesn't work in the new version.

kea ~ Far out in the uncharted backwaters of the unfashionable end of the western spiral arm of the Galaxy lies a small, unregarded but very well read blue and white website

I was wondering about this too.

There appears to be no way to link to a specific post (the in post arrows - from alabaster - are gone).

Also, I use the 'this is a reply to this post' button alot, especially in the fast threads. Because we have no quote function, the ability to see what post someone was replying to is valuable.

Kea, it would be best if you recorded your comment about the conversation links in a separate conversation, as it is less likely to get forgotten about that way.

Just to let you know, we've made a note of people's concerns regarding the Reply 'atom' on conversations, and we'll be looking into doing something similar on the new site.

Gnomon - re: your question regarding the 'test' feature. We'll be passing this on to somone who might be a little better placed to answer this for you than us. smiley - ok

Gnomon, please bear in mind this is a read only beta we've put live to the community essentially so you can see the new look and feel. It is incomplete. You're right, not all the functionality that will feature, features in the Beta as shown. However, getting feedback now at this stage is still proving very useful.
