When do I get my name back?

What's the progress on the "long names for h2g2 users" feature?
I went to upload a photograph and found my name truncated. When I went to reset it I discovered you had removed the "Display Name" field from my "Preferences" without announcing it.
If I'd realised I could no longer reset my name I wouldn't have risked playing around with it.
I'm *very* unhappy.

It hasn't been in My Preferences for a long time--you go to Settings (on here, not the same one you went to to add you photo) to change it now.
