Another entry on meditation. Yoga Nidra can be very satisfying.
Comments please!

Does anyone think it might be useful to beef up the bit about the benefits of Yoga Nidra?
These include increased capacity to deal with stress, increased capacity to learn (increasing memory function), reduction in blood pressure and relief of asthma, insomnia and migraine headache.

In answer- yes, but only briefly, otherwise you risk wandering off the subject somewhat. The enrty is about the practice itself, rather than things related to it.
My only comment apart from the is:
"The instructor will then call out the parts of the body, "Right hand thumb, second finger, third finger, fourth finger, fifth finger, palm of the hand, back of the hand, wrist, elbow, shoulder, armpit, right side, right waist, right thigh, kneecap, calf muscle, ankle, heel, sole, big toe, second toe, third toe, fourth toe, fifth toe", etc."
Why? Are you supposed to relax each of these bits as they are called out, or what?
Other than that, informative entry

OK, I'll add a short bit in about the benefits. I'll probably do that tomorrow as it's a bit late now. Thanks for the comments.
It can also be done in a modified version with children. I did it with my son (who's just a bit young yet) yesterday and he quite liked it. It may help him focus a little more.
As for the practice itself, the practitioner brings attention to the body part mentioned. S/he should already have relaxes as much as possible beforehand. Is this not clear in the entry? If not, I'll try to make it clearer.

Just noticed, you asked shy. Well, yes, by bringing attentionto the body parts, they do in effect relax a little more. They also relax the brain. The order you do the body parts in *is* important, as the act of relaxing the body stimulates and relaxes the cortex of the brain along the folds in the order the of where they are located in the brain. I thought of putting that in the entry, but didn't want to get too technical.
I also thought I had explained it (the bit about relaxing the body relaxing the mind), but obviously not well enough. Do you think people would want to know the technical stuff?

I have amended the entry including taking a bit out of the introduction, contracting a couple of bits and adding in information about children and benefits other than relaxation and an ability to cope with stress, which were already in there.
Is the entry now clearer? Are there any other parts which need greater explanation or expansion?
Feedback please.

Yeah, I think you need to add something, otherwise it sounds odd. The matter of body parts was the only thing that left me thinking 'huh?', so I guess a bit of explanation is needed there.

OK, KerrAvon, I've amended the entry.
I still haven't put the bit in about mapping the mind, however hopfully, the amendments will make the practice clearer.
What do you think?

Yep- I think that makes it spot-on. With the entry as it stands, if ppl are more interested, they can research and get into the practice themselves, which is Ithink what you are aiming for. They may be typos I haven't picked up in my... somewhat jolly... state, buit I don't think so.
I think the entry's pretty much done now have a

I did some Yoga Nidra instruction over the weekend. We had a yoga teacher and I asked if I could do the final session, so that she could get some relaxation herself. Interestingly enough, she knew nothing about it and I got some very positive feedback.
So, - waits.

Your Guide Entry has just been picked from Peer Review by one of our Scouts, and is now heading off into the Editorial Process, which ends with publication in the Edited Guide. We've therefore moved this Review Conversation out of Peer Review and to the entry itself.
If you'd like to know what happens now, check out the page on 'What Happens after your Entry has been Recommended?' at EditedGuide-Process. We hope this explains everything.
Thanks for contributing to the Edited Guide!

Dunno yet- have to persuade the other half- it's a fair way from Staffordshire to London! Mind you, he's a truck driver, so it shouldn't seem *that* far to him... I take it you are?
