A Conversation for Stockport
Pyramids

The pyramid is visible from a long way away, but is at its most impressive when seen from Junction one of the Manchester orbital motorway, which begins and ends in Stockport.
The original game plan was for a "Valley of the Kings" with nine or ten of these architectural follies, but the developers and Stockport council ran out of money after building the one.
It is currently used by the Co-Op bank as a living tomb for call centre peons, who are ungrateful about the opportunity to work in an architectural award-winner (judging by their pay rates, the Co-op bank beleives in paying its staff in architectural finery rather than money), moan about it being poorly airconditioned, and not being able to open any of the greenhouse windows. Now what was it John Cleese said in the Architect Sketch about people incapable of sharing his artistic vision...

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
