A nice sinple question to debate.
Why has activity seemed to have slowed down on H2G2 over the last year.
It looks like there are
There are fewer entries.
And Conversation Posting has fallen away, even on popular sites.
Or am I wrong?
Ideas and observations please

I'm a bit worried I am the only person here. The edited entries seem to be yonks old, and looking at researchers personal spaces often reveals no activity.

There is only one thing worse than being Gosho, and that is not being Gosho Posted Feb 29, 2008
Speaking purely for myself, I've gravitated away from most of the 'community' areas of h2g2 such as Ask, and probably 99% of my h2g2 time now is spent in the journals of friends. There's too much noise and chatter. If that's been happening with others, it would explain a lack of activity in communal parts of the site.

Many of my entries are indeed old (the first was written back in 2000) but I'm still here looking after them!
I'm not as active as I once was, as I've lost my patience for chitter chattering and role playing, and at the moment real life means I don't have as much brain energy left for writing new entries.
Ask h2g2 is very much slower than it used to be, but that's possibly because it got split up a few years ago, with other 'misc' forums being promoted more and Reserachers creating entries for specific types of questions.

I'd forgotten about this.
The idea here was to try to turn some of the heated debates elsewhere on the site into edited guide entries, or to find a way for some of the (one-sided) entries that were sometimes submitted to go into the edited guide with an appropriate balancing perspective. Or to allow people to make a more detailed case for a particular point than was possible in standard conversations.
Never really took off, though.

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
