A Conversation for Talking Point: What did you want to be when you grew up?

Little Mischief

I remember in first grade there was a day that we were supposed to bring something to school that had something to do with what we wanted to be when we grew up. I took a little nurse doll, thinking it would be great to help people when they were sick and needed help.

Sometime in the seventh grade I finally decided I wanted to be a teacher, and spent several years thereafter trying to decide what I'd like to teach. By the end of high school I hadn't decided, and failed miserably out of college.

At this point I've finally decided what I want to do, and am having trouble getting back to school to make it happen. Eventually I hope to achieve a degree in Psychology and become a youth counsellor.

In the meantime, I'm having a pretty good time in security work smiley - smiley

I did at one point have the opportunity to work in a nursing home several years ago. I am so glad I changed my mind about nursing... I would have HATED it.

On a related note, two years ago when my son was in Kindergarten, their writing assignment one day was to write what they wanted to be when they grew up. My son's answer: a 'palentagist'. He can pronounce it, he just didn't know how to spell it. He wants to be a paleontologist. smiley - biggrin
