White spot.
Highly contageous, reasonably common.
White spots appear on fish. These are parasites that hatch, fall to the tank floor, breed and then infect more fish.
Symptoms:
White spots (obviously)
Fish gasping for air.
Treatment:
A treatment is available in the form of droplets dispersed into the water. However, this treatment only kills the parasites in the water and any fish seriously infected is not likely to survive.
Without treatment, most fish will perish.
I hope this helps.
