Hmm, where to start.

Well, let's start with the entry itself, short, to the point, does what it says on the tin, so in that sense, a good start. Possibly a bit light on detail - not sure I'm in a position to try it even if I've got this and a pair of wire cutters to hand.

It doesn't mention immobilisers - lots of cars have chips in the keys, and cars won't move unless there's a valid chip near the lock or something. So hotwiring that kind of car wouldn't work, I think, which could be worth mentioning.

I'll be interested to see where this goes, because there was some fuss a while back over an entry which contained instructions for building a nuclear weapon (!), and before that over one with instructions on how to make a Molotov cocktail. A lot of young and impressionable people read here. I can see this entry suffering a similar fate...

Hi, this seems a bit bare bonesy, perhaps fill it out a bit, sounds a bit dodgy, but I like your style, try filling it out a bit and who knows . Good luck and take care ianmac

Welllllll, this sort of thing has a mixed history of success and failures.

'10 things to annoy your librarian' (or so) was rejected by the Editors despite a heavy disclaimer section. So was 'lighting your hand with gas bubbles' (or so).

'The art of mascotry' (or so) succeeded, and so did 'Molotov Cocktails' and another one whose name eludes me at the moment.

So did Whisky's A-bomb one-it was on the front page not so long ago.

Personally, I'd like to see the slang taken out-'boost' is a word that is
a) not universally known (in this context)
b) carries overtones of criminality. Or maybe that's just me.

Of course, it won't make it into the guide with a marquee header on it...

Using Marquee is one of the things you can't do in an edited entry-as far as I'm aware.

It doesn't appear in the wiriting guidelines, but I'm pretty sure that's the case.
A bit like not using pictures and stuff.

I don't think I could hotwire a car from this entry. It wouldn't work on mine - I've got an immobiliser.

If the purpose is to get yourself going when you've lost your key, why not simply put a spare key somewhere on the underside of your car in a magnetic box. Cover it with grease. Remember where it is and bob's your uncle!

Your article was fine. However, I'd like to comment on the layout you have chosen for your entry. Perhaps it would be a little more organized if you could use proper spacing, you know what I mean. For example your numbered elements seem to be running in line, one after the other.

An entry ough to be appealing to the eye, so layout is important.

The title should be capitalised to "How to Hotwire Cars"

Your disclaimer doesn't have to be all capitalised. Just a note to say that the BBC does not condone illegal activity should suffice. I'm not sure that the editors will be happy with this, even with a disclaimer, but we shall have to wait and see.

Layout: It would be nice if you could use paragraphs, please. You put a tage at the start of each paragraph, and a tag at the end. It looks much nicer. It would also be nice if you could turn the last bit into a list, to become

That's probably enough to be getting on with The content needs work, but as you say you're going to find some things out, I'll wait until you do before commenting
