Isnt he just!
I missed him, shame. Glad he made it to the heroes list. I would do a biggrin smiley but i am too grumpy (even by my standards) so i will do a instead.

I've thought of another Enemy: Postman Pat.
He has a job where he has to get up at the crack of dawn and risk being savaged by Rottweilers for lousy pay - and yet that stupid smirk never leaves his face! him and the he rode in on!

Since we're on the subject of kids show characters, how about Jones the Steam from Ivor the Engine? He was always happy and cheery
Dai Station on the other hand was a lugubrious old git who should be one of our heroes

As for Jess, Postmans Pats cat, i think he pees on the mail when pat isnt looking!

Hello folks. A worthy project you have going here. I can't think of any children's characters but (possibly not a million miles away) can I suggest David Beckham, that relentlessly chirpy, grinning, life-affirming, omnipresent, cockney parakeet.
Paul McCartney always struck me as a bit of a blistering barnacle on the face of an otherwise largely indifferent universe as well, actually.
Yours, irritably,
Lear

A couple of excellent suggestions there, Lear, both already acted upon. Becks has a Hero of PUDDING as a boss, but not even Sir Alex can wipe the grin off his face. Sickening!

Beckham does seem largely immune to Sir Alex's healthy influence, but to be fair we should bear in mind that the poor lad has a certain significant other to contend with when he gets home. I don't want to ruin anyone's weekend by mentioning her name, but I think you know who I mean...

I'm not sure that I agree with Paul McCartney being an enemy of Pudding. He can be moody. What about when he pulled out of the Melbourne concert? He says it was out of respect for the Bali victims. Could it be that he had a panic attack and woosed out?
He has written some Puddingish songs; 'Eleanor Rigby', 'Fool on the Hill', 'For No One', 'Lady Madonna', 'Yesterday'.
Okay, so I'm just grasping at straws here, 'cos I like the Beatles. I guess you've already gone to the trouble to put him on the list, and he does come accross as a rather happy chappy.

I'm a Beatles fan too, and Mr McCartney has unquestionably written some superb songs. Unfortunately, he's also written 'Ob-La-Di-Ob-La-Da', 'Silly Love Songs', 'We All Stand Together', 'Wonderful Christmas Time', and - perhaps worst of all - 'Freedom', his breathtakingly inane response to September 11.
And, on his new album sleeve, he's still persisting with that gesture after all these years. Sorry, but I think his place on the 'Enemies' list is fully justified.

Speaking of musical matters, have you seen the new PUDDING Anthem yet?
If not... A1005193

Yes I have seen the PUDDING anthem. Methinks you've got too much time on your hands, but all in all a job well done!
I haven't thought of anything to add to it yet.

Too much time on my hands? I wish!
I made up the Anthem while travelling between w**k and rehearsals for the play I'm appearing in (Shakespeare's 'The Tempest'. Strangely, the director cast me as the very grumpy King Alonso).
I've been so busy lately, I haven't even had time to go to the ! That's really serious!

Are the 'Enemies of...' and 'Friends of...' lists now set in stone, or is there still room on the former for Anne of Green Gables, and on the latter for Tony Hancock?

Ormondroyd Posted Jan 5, 2004
The lists are definitely not set in stone, Gosho, and Tony Hancock was certainly a great comedian and a great grumbler. He's not featured in the 'Heroes' list because of a decision I took on ethical grounds while compiling the list: I decided not to include anyone who'd committed suicide. Otherwise, Mr Hancock would certainly have been included, as would Kurt Cobain. I just didn't want it to look as if we were celebrating the despair of anyone who reached that utterly hopeless stste of mind, or having a giggle at their expense.
As for Anne of Green Gables: here you have the advantage over me, because I haven't seen the film or read the . However, I did a bit of research, and found this page of quotes from Anne and her fictional friends: http://members.lycos.co.uk/anneandgil/quotes.htm .
Are you sure she's an Enemy of P.U.D.D.I.N.G.? Judged by those lines, she sounds more like a Friend to me!

Ah, I take your point about Tony Hancock Ormy.
As for Anne, I guess you'll just have to wade through the American serialisation of the book next time they show it on British TV... which you might have to wait at least a year for since they normally show it over C****tmas
