Can I join please..
Amanda Posted Jan 8, 2003
Hi, I have read all of the above and I wanna join please.
Today I am not too bad, so I will leave a little message. But I promise to be grumpy next time I write an entry.

Yeah I really need to change that. I really am not that optimistic and if I am I promise to stay away.

Welcome on board, both of you.
Chauncey, thank you for understanding my initial caution. We have to be careful here at PUDDING. It's not unknown for people to burst in here and start telling us to, you know... c***r up. Naturally, we repel them with a hail of , but it's still unpleasant.
Amanda - ot should I call you maniac? Welcome to PUDDING. Always nice to meet a fellow insomniac. Nothing boosts your morning grumpiness like a bad night's sleep, eh?

Amanda Posted Jan 8, 2003
Absolutely.
Four hours sleep and I can be the grumpiest for miles.
My insomnia is relatively new. I have always been a naff sleeper, but lately, I have watched the clock go round and round.
Glad to meet others like me.
Thanks for making and Chauncey so welcome.
Maniac or Amanda are fine.
Amanda the maniac.

Yeah thanx for accepting me. Hey Amanda I know what you mean, that has been me for the last week. I just can't seem to sleep so I am always tired. It sucks.

To start with the sleep thing was not a problem. I got more work done, surfed even more than usual and was not really anymore tired.
But the last couple of days have been really bad. I have struggled to keep my head up. Fortunately I have a job that keeps my interest and keeps me on the move, so I have not fallen asleep at work yet.

Chauncey Posted Jan 9, 2003
Yeah, the sleep problem has been a problem for me...oops guess I was being redundant. I can't get to sleep until at least 1:00 and then the next day at school I am dead. Like today I fell asleep in my first two classes. It really hasn't been a very good day. I got my ACT scores back and that has made it ten times worse. At least schools almost over, then I can go home and read or something.

I have yet to fall asleep at work as I said, but nearly did today! The uncomfortable chair in the staff room was so inviting. I put my head back, and I could have got an hour in. Why is it you could fall asleep when its not appropriate, but when you want to sleep, you can't?
I am confused by it.
Maybe we try too hard.
I am on a course tomorrow so I am guaranteed some sleep there. Sooooo boring.

I sympathise, Amanda. I too am on a course, learning the wonders of the Sage accounting program. I wish they'd let me do it last thing at night. It'd do wonders for my sleep pattern.

Amanda Posted Jan 9, 2003
My course is a four day one, spread over 4 weeks.
I am hoping to train as a teacher but am working as a Teaching Assistant while I wait to go to uni in Sept.
The course apparently is VERY patronising.
If it is, and I am tired, I will just HAVE to say something to release the pressure that will undoubtedly build up during the day.
Luckily I have a colleague suffering with me as well, so she may be able to keep me calm.

*sighs* another form to fill in.
As a child my mother said i was crotchety. I resent the fact that emoticoms are called 'smileys'. I reserve the right to be grumpy and miserable whenever i choose. And I choose all the time, mostly. If you dont let me join i will go and sulk in a corner.

Ormondroyd Posted Jan 12, 2003
Sir Mort, you sound perfect for PUDDING.
You're actually the first Researcher who's grumbled about having to make a posting to join, and I think that in doing so you've shown an exemplary attitude. Although you're welcome to join, please feel free to go and sulk in a corner. That's what PUDDING is all about!

Ormondroyd Posted Jan 12, 2003
Very promising! Now just practice your meaningful silences and surly expressions, and you could be a world-class sulker!
