Well, anytime I'm not at college basically (I'm in England btw)
So as suggested, 10am Saturday would be fine! Or evenings.

Thanks everyone who's posted so far, carry on suggesting times if you haven't already, and we'll go through this page when we get back to the office next week.

Spike Anderson is sorry he can't catch up on a whole month's backlog

Definitely against. Jimster's right: the forum style is perfect for equal-opportunity communication. As well, fora effectively negate the troubles of time-zones, as the backlog stays. Even recorded chat would be hard to go through. The fora also encourage self-editing and good style, which is much easier to read is large quantities. I never use capitals and good punctuation in a chat room, mostly for timing reasons. I can't really see an advantage to chat rooms except for specific discussions, say for entry collaboration. I believe I can speak for all the Subs to say that all that backlog is nice to have. It can make it much easier to correct things, for instance: If a sentence is written with a comma in the wrong place it might mean something entirely different. Sometimes the PR backlog and other fora (I like that word) can give you the background you need to tell if it's correct. I think that chat could only take away from the site.

*blink* I do wish volunteers, of all descriptions, would refrain from making this kind of statement. It only happens very rarely, but it sure does grate.

Aside from that, you make good points. I don't think there's likely to be any entry collaboration during this one-off chatroom, but I guess it's possible. Why don't we wait till we've had the trial, and then we can look through the logs and see what people have talked about? Better to know than to speculate.

Sorry, you're right. Let me rephrase that as 'From a Sub's perspective'. I just mean that the backlog from entry discussion is often useful for subbing. It's also useful for Flea Market entries, where there's a good chance that a lot of useful material is lurking in the backlog. In the end, I think that's a better example anyway. My apologies to Subs who don't feel that way; I didn't mean to be so sweeping...
