Long spells of dullness

I do think that having days/weeks of cloudy dull weather can affect how people feel. I remember always feeling uplifted in England when the sun broke through.
I've been here in the Persian Gulf for many years and most of the time it's sun and cloudless skies which can get alittle boring at times, and I must admit that when clouds appear and sometimes rain (not very many times at all)it feels exciting and uplifting. I guess it's just similar to 'the other man's grass is always greener'.smiley - cool

I definitely find that the weather affects my moods. I feel much happier and more positive on bright sunny days and more apathetic and lethargic when the weather is dull, cloudy or, worse still sometimes, foggy. I think long spells of grey overcast weather are probably the worst and I'm definitely not my best in winter when there is less daylight generally. I don't mind a bit of rain now and then but it's when it rains for days on end and it's no fun to go out for a walk when I can get really stir-crazy. On the whole I feel that my life goes better on sunny days than on grey cloudy ones but that could just be because I'm feeling more positive anyway.

I live in a part of British Columbia, Canada that is notorious for long stretches of cloudy or rainy days. I've always been told that it has the highest suicide rate in Canada for that reason but recently I looked up the statistics. Quebec is much higher and the Northern territories are almost double our figures (since 1950), both are known for sunny days (although often very cold). Personally it's the only weather I've known other than on holidays so it really doesn't affect me. A friend I know who moved here in her late teens from a sunny clime has Seasonal Affected Disorder (SAD) and needs a sun lamp treatment in the winter. I really think personality is more important than weather but for some people their personality likes sunny weather and only sunny weather! smiley - biggrin
