I would love to come to the summer meet up as I am a 'local'!!!

I am a bit nervous though... I don't really know anyone as I am quite a newbie..

Can I bring a friend with me or do I have to ask someone to adopt me for the evening!!! (Me doesn't want to be a billy no friends...!!!)

Bringing friends is perfectly acceptable, I've seen it happen a number of times. Its always good to have someone to hide behind That said, we are all a friendly bunch (well most of us ) and you will have no problems.

It'd be great if you could come and definitely feel free to bring a friend along!

The parties aren't like geeky meet-ups where everyone stands around feeling awkward, they're really good fun *proper* parties! Everyone is really friendly and chatty, so newcomers (and their friends) soon feel really at ease, honestly, they're great!

Ahhh well we are going to get everyone to make namebadges for themselves!

Though with most Researchers' attitude to that aspect, that may not help so much...

I actually think that's a good idea!! Saves me wandering around like a lemon asking everyone who they are!!!!!!

Am I right in thinking the namebadges may not survive to the evening... and that some people will probably swap theirs around?!

Naw, we don't swap namebadges, although some of us have problems with other researchers trying to drink our badges

No people tend to keep them on all evening, mainly because there are so many people at the meet up you meet new people all through the night!
