Actually I have no power, I just type the list. I am completely irresponsible. Responsibility is one of the nastier symptoms of being poorly - as you get better you will become more and more irresponsible... just like me .

The purpose of publicising the fire limit is to encourage the forgetful to remove themselves from the list if they find they cannot come for some reason. It was not intended to make you feel guilty.

Could we possibly have a distributed party over several pubs, or a time-lapse pub crawl? Thereafter meeting at Speaker's Corner and pontificating loudly to the assembled masses. That way only a few people are at each pub at any given time, people can redistribute dynamically to meet people in other pubs and by the time reunion is had everyone will be in just the right mood to meet new people, some of them nothing to do with H2G2.

But generally, don't push anyone off the list for me. As long as I can mail someone my name badge.
