... someone might fancy something approaching a meet in Sheffield during the last week of October? Is that north enough?

Sho - employed again! Posted Aug 28, 2004
Well it could be closer to other people if you all wanted, it's just that I never ever make it to the big meets and I've only ever met one other person from h2g2 (knowingly) in RL...
anyway, I'll be in the UK from Sunday 23rd October and leaving againon Sunday 31st October. Most likely Saturday 30th October I'll have to do the family thing, but if anyone wanted to meet up on any of the other evenings/days I'd be up for it.

2-legs, I'm not calling you a fibber, but is it really that long and that far? I used to live in Cambridge (that's you, isn't it?) and my Mum would visit from Sheff. She would change at Ely. I admit sometimes I'd go to Ely and collect her!
I expect you're right, though.

Well, its about 4 or 5 hours to Manchester, I seem to remember, which is about the same distance? or is it before Manchester... I forget

I'd think that coming from Cambridge, Manchester would be further. But I never did have a full grasp of British geography.

Yes, i think it is, now I remember, going through the big tunnel that is just before Sheffield, before I got to Manchester so it is probably four hours at least from here... I could8 go check

JulesK Posted Aug 28, 2004
No, 'cos he'd be using the East Coast mainline I expect... I meant the real name for the internet!
Given that the poor love is currently busy wondering what he's going to eat tonight, maybe one of us should check for him!

I'd have to work out if I could do there and back in a day or if I'd need to find a park bench for the night Hmm, food.... right.... not* pizza, I don't feel like a curry, or chinese as I had rice yesterday and I'll be having rice the next few nights (for as long as it takes me to do a shop and buy more food anyhow), so I think I'll go for the old favourate of mixed kebab tons of chilli sauce and lots of salad and a portion of chips from the take away up the top of burley street I think they diliver so I won't have the stress of having to take five minutes out to walk there Right, where is the phone
