Let us all unite in our sorrow at the elimination of our respective national teams... Italy was notoriously sent home last Tuesday, England is now out of the running too, so all that's left is...
GO, GO, GO SENEGAL!!!

I'm not watching it anymore, in protest.
No need to root for South Korea, they'd make it to the final even if they turned up in ra-ra skirt and formation-danced on the pitch for the duration of the match. Let's hope they take a good beating from the Brazilians.
I'd rather watch F1 racing, it makes more sense. At least there's HOPE that my personal favourite Juan Pablo Montoya will eventually win at least one race, without Ferrari having to give up the title or anything...

I have to say that pulling Korea out of the sweepstake is not so hopeless as it first appeared.

So have you been protecting your investment by bribing all the match officials?!

I am not saying anything with my lawyer being present.

Bah. I'm gonna go with Germany taking it. I have to, because if the US was beat by a losing team, how horrible would that be?? Yes, we're proud, arrogant, and all-around egotistical. Got a problem with that??

As Brits, we should not criticise dodgy refereeing decisions too strongly. After all we benefited rather nicely from the actions of a certain Russian linesman

GreyDesk Posted Jun 24, 2002
I've always subscribed to the WW2 theory of that decision.
It was only 21 years since the end of the war. The linesman was from the Ukraine which had been heartily trashed by the Nazis through the war. So when he saw a marginal goal for England against the Germans, the thought that went through his head, "20 million dead. Goal..."

Mmmmh... still, at this point I'd really like Korea to reach the finals... that way, either Germany or Brazil will have the pleasure of shredding their defence to bits, and possibly mauling their attackers... provided it's not a final between Turkey and Korea, which would be nothing short of hallucinatory, wouldn't it?

well, since I'm from Holland, I've watched this worldcup cheering for different nations every single game. Problem is, most teams I wanted to win, actually lost. As we have many Turkish immigrants here, it is safest to cheer for them. Which is almost a guarantee they will not survive the next round. And as for Guus Hiddink, they can keep him in Korea...

Have you heard the rumours that he'll be in charge of PSV next season?
*sob* We've been through it before
merlina Posted Jun 25, 2002
Yeah, but I've just read a headline in the newspaper that there is some serious competition for PSV, though I don't know from which club.

just checked, competition if from the national teams of Mexico and Portugal. This is turning into a very sad joke.
