Sadly, I'm not in a position to be able to try out this recipe, having no oven. But do you realise that the Brownie is sacred to many of here on h2g2? If not, just visit A193754...

Hi Ormondroyd!
Thanks for that. I'd not visited before and I'm glad I have now. All the entries I looked at on Brownies were of the human kind @dib, dib, dib' and all the rest.
My American friend tasted my Brownies and said 'Now, *that's* a Brownie', and she's picky.
Having looked at the 10 rules, I see I'm just about OK. Nuts = allowed, fruit = not recommended (I said optional - I don't usually include them in my baking).
Hopefully others will try out the recipe and give feedback.
