Project: Casinos and Gambling Games
Mu Beta Started conversation Feb 17, 2003
As the index page says, I'll probably come up with a better title at some point.
h2g2 name: Master B
U-number: U190397
Index Page: A969942
Subject Area: A bit of everything really, without going into too much depth. Some history of casinos and the games, basic rules, strategies and a nice big disclaimer saying it's not our fault if anyone goes bankrupt.
Project Titles/Specifics:
- Casinos: A Background & History
- Roulette (There's already a very good EG entry at A615539 which I'm hoping to either expound upon or suborn into the Project)
- Blackjack
- Fruit Machines
Plus whatever else springs to mind: Island Poker, Craps, Keno, and Baccarat are all on the short list.
Maybe a sensible guide to gambling in general as well.
Start Date: 26th February
Finish Date: 6 weeks later...9th April, is it?
What do you think?

Hello!
It's nearly the start date. Has this been approved, and if not why not?

I'm sorry Master B, I must have missed this in my conversations list. I'll add the details to the new Uni pages, although I'm not sure how long it'll take before they go live.

No worries, cobbler. The longer I've got to write stuff the better.

Have you got his U number? I'll add him to your bit.

Does that imply that I've actually got to write something now?
Damn...
Project organisation is so easy until it comes down to the work.

Sounds like an interesting project, I'd like to help on it, if you'd have me. I'd like to write an entry on Blackjack. They currently have one, but not edited.
And before you ask, I know Blackjack, 22 and above is a bust, house hits at 16 and stays at 17... yadda yadda yadda. Let me know

I was actually hoping to write the blackjack one myself - it's my game too.
You're more than welcome to write on any of the other topics? If you understand craps more than I do, then you'd be very well equipped - what do you think?

I understand, blackjack is a game of math and I can't discount math of my fellow h2g2-ers. I have no bearing on craps, I giggle at the name too much to take the time to learn it, and I have to have poker and most other card games explained to me. I'd do slot machines, but it seems that falls under the domain of the gamblers fallacy article. I'm getting good at solitaire though
Well, it says Casinos AND Gambling, anything you need done with Casinos I'd be happy to assist

Sure. If you'd like to write an Entry on the history of casinos, opr one on some famous casinos, or maybe even tips and advice for those planning a night at a casino (bearing mind the standard varies hugely, and I want to try for a fairly international flavour), you're more than welcome.
