Cheers, guys.
For some reason, this reminded me of a pigeon's take on that anti-pigeon netting you see all over cities these days:

hah! ... that is one cool pigeon photo! ...
.. I need to make my life with this pigeon .. well .. I would .. if I was a pigeon .. a rock-pigeon to be precise .. which is different to a dove ... although I think they might be related ...
I find pigeons more approachable than doves ... although I have never in fact approached a dove eye to eye ... I think I am a bit shy of talking to doves because they represent peace ... and I might feel that ....even despite my heart's desire ....I can't live up to such high standards ... and that I am somehow a bit scruffy and urban and feral with shiny purple and green feathers and I peck a lot when agitated or itchy ....
Someone I once knew used to call me .. I wonder why.
I've always had this feeling that pigeons know a lot more than one might expect on first appearances .... and this photo proves it ...
I think this pigeon posting might be somewhat irrelevant ... and now I might in fact just ease out before that birdie camera eye with those ubiquitous (good word .. what does it mean?) image-collecting tentacles follows me through the grey and green and purple haze of pigeons in flight....
PS .. hey Eds ... yet another fine edition of

Back in the mid-70s...in a bus full of foreign students and German students...circling the square (how mathematical) in Wuerzburg...lots of pigeons wheeling...
My partially bilingual German friend turns to me and asks, in German:
'How do you say 'Friedenstaube' in English?'
I think, and laugh. 'The dove of peace.'
He replies thoughtfully, 'I thought the 'pigeon of peace' sounded wrong.'
They're all s to me. I love 'em.

It does, doesn't it? Maybe some university could adopt it as its mascot for the Peace Studies Department.
