It is not a government issue but a moral choice. It is a matter of maturity. As we mature our concern reaches outward until it takes into consideration the well being of animals as well as ourselves. We haveyet to take care of less fortunate humans so we have little thought to devote to the lesser species.

Well, it obviously is a government issue insofar as they're the ones with the power to make fox hunting illegal. But in general, I totally agree with you!

I'm with you all the way on both issues, Ormy.
Who was it that called fox hunting 'The unspeakable in pursuit of the uneatable!'?

Thank you!
I'm not sure, but I have a feeling that quote came from Oscar Wilde. Great line, whoever said it!

Hi Ormy.
Without being able to refer to my book of famous quotations, as I appear to have misplaced it, I think you're right that Oscar Wilde is the source of that particular quote.
I completely agree with you on the matter of will of the House of Commons once again being ignored and I think this "Committee" or whatever it is that has been appointed to investigate the hunting with dogs ban over the next six months is yet another "fudge" and delaying tactic.
What was I here for? Oh yes! Nice article by the way and a most entertaining read, especially the football bit! I don't follow football at all and mentally switch off when it's mentioned in the media so I must be one of the "few" in the UK who hadn't heard about this particular match!

The definitive quote is:
'The English country gentleman galloping after a fox - the unspeakable in full pursuit of the uneatable.'
And most definitely it is our dear friend Oscar
