Just one day,
nightmare,
Is it possible it could even be an hour or two?

hi Tanzen,
I guess you never have trouble finding something to do on your birthday. Heck, most of the world celebrates it.

That's true...there's always something to do...
...I remember going to the pub one year...and as the night was progressing...and I was getting more "tired and emotional" ()...I remember saying to one of my friends..."Look at all these people...they're all here for ME...my people...they LURVE me!"

December 23rd over here, and I just missed sharing a birthdate with Jesus! Of course, I would rather it have been David Bowie...

Athena and Tanzen,
Do you notice that people tend to lump your birthday and Christmas together so you end up getting less prezzies?

I have noticed that...and it definitely bothered me when I was a kid...
...but these days, I get free drinks on my birthday...so I can't complain any more !

the free drinks is true,
but the one prezzy is also true,
I aso hated the fact that i couldnt really have a birthday party and invite all my class mates, because we where off and it just didnt seem right.

In Spain, where I live, the tradition is that if it is your birthday and you happen to go into a bar it is expected that YOU buy everyone a round, whether you know these people or not.
Hence I tend to lurk at home on my birthday and only go out with an English or American friend who understands the concept of free birthday drinks!
My birthday falls just a week after New Years and truly by then people are quite fed up with celebrating stuff. So it sometimes takes a bit of convincing on my part that people should want to help me celebrate my birthday.

I think we should start a campaign for equal birthday rights to everybody!

I am totally for this. Really I love my birthday so much that I refuse to work on this day. This is MY day. It is the anniverary of the day I was born. What could be more important? I truly love birthdays and never feel worried that I am getting OLDER. In fact, with every passing year I feel so happy that I have managed to make it so far.
I am now 46 3/4. And I am now fatter than I was when I was younger, and i have some wrinkles happening on my face. But I think - how lucky am I to be able to see myself getting older! Really, the other option is to be dead. Well, so far, I am not dead. So why not celebrate each year one accomplishes? I really like this idea.
My birthday is MY day. And I am always happy when it comes around yet again . . .
