Hi there!
This is a little confusing... perhaps you could take a look at the Writing Guidelines... it looks a little, well, dry on the surface and at the moment does not seem to be Edited Guide material.
By the way... it's 'The Picture of Dorian Gray' not 'A Portrait...'

Sorry Mr. Plip,
You're right I didn't look at the guidelines. Wanna know the truth? I don't know how to use this goddamn thing. I'd like to learn. I really would. There is so much I have to say (and, no doubt, hear). I click. I scroll. I just end up with a headache. I've never been much for rules (which is probably why I am in the mess I am in). Rules are important. I know that. Anyways, thank you for correcting me on the whole "picture/portrait" thing.

It's ok. First off, what should we call you for short: King or Jews (or something else )? Next, here's how the site works:
First, you write something. Actually, this doesn't have to be first at all, and often it isn't, but let's just keep it simple and come in at the part where you do. You obviously know how to create new Entry, so let's skip to what to write. In a word, anything. The first important concept in h2g2ing is that there are two (well, three, really) kinds of Entries in the Guide: Edited and not (and help pages, but those are different. They are, however, Entries). Any page of content you see on h2g2 is an Entry, unless it's a conversation like this one. When you write an Entry, it's just a plain, unedited Entry. If it's the type of thing that's potentially destined for the Edited Guide, you can put it into the Writing Workshop (if it's not quite finished) or right into Peer Review. Only Entries in Peer Review can be recommended by one of the Scouts for Editing. Check out the other Review Forums (the links along the top of PeerReview) for their purposes.
If you just want to talk, click <./>talk</.> on the bar on the left if you're using Classic Goo (your background is blue) or the top if you're using Alabaster (your background is white). If you want to read <./>ThePost</.>, h2g2's very own newspaper, just click there. In fact, you can even write for the Post if you'd like (there's a link from the Post).
<./>Askh2g2</.> is a great place to talk. Ask the rest of the community whatever you want or answer someone else's. Feel free to lurk (read conversations you're not really a part of) wherever you like; it's expected. And don't feel shy about butting in. We're all here to share information, basically, and anything towards that end is worthwhile. Of course, so are a lot of things that aren't towards that end at all. Just have fun. And don't be scared, because no one here bites (if they do, the Editors and the Moderators can take care of them, just click the yikes () button.
Sorry to be so long winded . Oh, and if you want to know how to make smileys (), just click one. They're fun!

There is also the Alternative Writers Workshop and GAG/AGGAG or whatever it is called.
Plenty of places for all sorts of different kinds of writing.
I wonder if this partiularly piece might not have been more expected as a journal entry?
