Certain banks will actually lend you a lot more than 10 grand during medical school, and if you are stupid, you will take them up on the offer.
If you are wise, you will tighten your belt.
I was stupid, and qualified from med school with a hefty overdraft well into five figures, plus my government student loan.
It costs me a quarter of my salary each month to pay it off, and this is after over 5 years of repayments. Bah!
