Looking good. Somehow I'm subsribed to PR - I intend to change this since I visit often anyway - but I spotted this and think the PR thread is unlikely to be that long - hopefully a case of a weeks wait.

Good entry! Short and to the point. Your recipe asks for 500 ml of gin. Does gin normally come in 750 ml bottles? Would it be better to have the recipe designed for 375 ml of gin? That way, you could make two batches of sloe gin out of one bottle of gin. Or perhaps leave it as it is and we can drink the remaining 250 ml of gin in gin and tonics!

Hear! Hear!
Just one little question: it's about the ice cream thing at the end.
Do you mean actually make ice-cream and add liqueur to it; à la 'sloe gin ripple'?
Or is it more like a boozy sauce à la brandy on your Xmas pudding?

Hi, everyone!
I have added a link to the Edited Entry on gin (which I'd just forgotten earlier).
I think I'll leave the quantities as they are at the moment, since I've already cut the recipe down from the main versions I was looking at - one of those needed two pints of gin! I have a 1 litre bottle of gin in a cupboard at the moment, which I'd meant to use for sloe gin last autumn, so I think 500ml is a reasonable quantity.
I've rephrased the ice cream bit - I hope it's clearer now.
for everyone!

Nice work, Azara!
Just one thing I'm curious about: can you buy ready-made, bottled sloe gin in the shops? You might feel that doing so would take away half the fun, but I'd be interested to know!

I've never seen sloe gin on sale in shops here, but doing a web search before writing the entry, I found that there seem to be a few people selling it commercially, but on a fairly small scale - through souvenir and craft shops, rather than through supermarkets and ordinary off-licences. I suppose the problem of collecting the sloes keeps it at the level of a cottage industry.

Hi Azara,
I have been given your delicious entry to subedit, and I have nearly finished the subbing job. You could see the results at A709661, just in case you're interested. If you see something that you'd like to comment upon, please feel free to drop me a note.

Thanks, SchrEck Inc!
The subbing job looks fine to me - the only difference I noticed was the extra couple of links, whihc were certainly a good idea!
Thanks for letting me know!

I am fairly sure that at least one of the major gin companies does a sloe gin that is commercially available in major supermarkets.

On the subject of commercially produces sloe gin, I heartily recommend "Bramley and Gage" Sloe Gin which is available online I believe. They also do some spectacular fruit liqueurs.

And your affiliation with the aforementioned brand is?
Only joking, Researcher 201826. Might I suggest to you that giving yourself a name and writing a little about yourself might be useful? It helps us to recognise you and makes you so much more than just a number.

As requested I have updated "My Space". There's something unsettlingly American about all this. Anyway, my affiliation with Bramley and Gage is that I worked for them as a student and drank a lot of their sloe gin which is excellent. I also make my own because there's something really great about picking the fruit on a warm September day, storing the stuff away and then rediscovering it in about January by which time it has matured nicely into a warming, soothing panacea.

Hi, Holly!
I'm always pleased to find that people have been reading my entries. I've posted your recommendation again on the Sloe Gin page, because usually only the author (me) and one or two other people (whoami? in this case) are still reading the Peer Review thread.
