I believe that Birmingham's Hockey squads should continue to exist. This is because they provide an amusing oppositon for the Nottingham Mens 5th's squad to let their freshers loose on, with on actual risk of losing. Indeed, they offer this service to all UK Midlands teams, free of charge. They therefore represent a valuable educational resource to the Hockey world.

As for a couple of other points:

Hockey players persist in wearing their kit because a) We tend to have nice, colourful hard-wearing shirts ideal for Uni life, and b) Because unlike football, rugby and other sports players, we don't coat it in mud everytime we play.

The risk of inbreeding is very slight, indeed, it would improve the skills pool of your squads, if at the detriment to other parts of their abilities and humanity.

Rugby squads are responisble for more vomit. (1x Hockey team = 16 players, 1x Rugby team = 21 players)

Without Hockey, astroturf would never have been invented. Therefore, even if they use up 90% of the available playing time, you still gain an astroturf you otherwise wouldn't have had.

Lastly, I would like to point out that Nottingham have reserved the rights to being Loughbourgh' arch-hockey rivals, owing to the fact that rivals are only fun if they are evenly matched. Birmingham may re-apply for the job on our promotion, and when they learn to shoot.
