Not at all, although yeah, some animals are cute . But that's not my point. If you take a look at [Broken Link Removed by Moderator], the best website to look at, they prove how stupid and useless animal vivisection is and how it can be done so much better. Trust me, I always do my research before debating!

so giving money to them is so much better than giving money to humanitarian charities
i dont care whether animals are cut open with a sh***y razor. when there are dying starving humans animals shiuld be used to feed them and money should be used to help them. humans are more important than animals

But why are humans more important than animals? What makes us so special? OK, so we are the most successful species on the planet, but are we really the most intelligent? My money's still on the dolphins...
Priorities. Are the in the correct order?
Uncle Heavy [sic] Posted Feb 23, 2002
do you get animals feeding anuimals of other species ahead of some of their own? i think not. and frankly, a couple of dismembered animals are as nothing compared to the huge amount of human suffering in the world. which is far more accute becuase we are so successful and self aware

Cannibalism and indeed homosexuality exists in the animal kingdom...and there are some apes who do this too - our closest relatives. Humans aren't really all that intelligent when you think about it - I take your point on the human suffering, but you don't see that anywhere else in the animal kingdom...!
If we were so intelligent and superior, how can we let this happen? I think we are a terrible species - human suffering the world over, innocents being killed all the time, the pollution of the planet, etc - we may be good at some things, but common sense and general awareness of others seems to be where we fail miserably

so lets not bother to make it better for those people who can feel more pain than animals and who have nothing, by giving money to dumb creatures who are less self aware instead of people. good idea

That's not fair though, calling other animals 'dumb' just because they can't express themselves the way they do . Humans bring it upon themselves, and indeed the 'dumb creatures'. Endangered species, anyone?

Kerr_Avon - hunting stray apostrophes and gutting poorly parsed sentences Posted Mar 21, 2002
Fox hunting cruel? Well mabe, but let's look at the alternatives. Fox numbers have to be controlled, that's a given.
Shooting- sounds good at first, but my husband's a crack ex-army shot, and he reckons he could hit a fox in the head from a decent range maybe 50% of the time. That leaves one Hell of a lot of bleeding, wounding angry foxes roaming the country, and that doesn't soudn to humane to be. Foxes move fast guys, and they have small heads, and only a direct, clean head shot is gonna kill 'em straight away.
Trapping/poisoning/gassing- ummm, how exactly are you planning on making sure you only catch foxes? Sadly there is no intelligent trap/gas/poisoned food that thinks 'oh, that's not a nasty fox, it's a cute 'ikle rabbit/stoat/endangered bird. Plus of course traps are a) already illegal and b) deeply unhumane.
So, I guess we're pretty much left with hunting. It fufils a needed function, people enjoy it, it creates jobs, sounds pretty ideal to me.

I'm from the country, and I know from personal experience foxes very rarely come down to farms and 'savage' livestock. If they do, it's a needs must thing as generally foxes are very shy of humans. It's because of humans foxes are forced to do this. There are better ways to protect your livestock than kill foxes; it's just an excuse to tear up the countryside with the rest of the hooray henrys (most of who don't even live in the country!!) and brutally kill a defenceless animal.

Uncle Heavy [sic] Posted Mar 22, 2002
well why do other country people say that foxes are live stock killers and do kill livestock. you arent the only country person and i bet you dont live on a farm.

fords - number 1 all over heaven Posted Mar 22, 2002
Not on a farm, but right next to one, so I know exactly what goes on there. Where I am from is in fact a strong farming village, with no less than 5 farms. My local MP is also a farmer, and when I wrote to him with my views, he replied saying that he uses better methods than hunting to control his livestock. Foxes are more of a pest in urban areas than the country; of course people are going to say those things about foxes because they want justification to go and kill them!

I don't want to fall out over this, I'm only trying to prove with the facts I have that you can't justify foxhunting to me.

Now, if you were to talk about pigeons, they are real pests. Rats with wings, I hate them. They spread disease and all sorts and ruin buildings with their poo and oooh! I just hate them when they fly right in front of me and, and.....!
