I found h2g2 twice.
The first time was pre-BBC. I registered, and was dismayed to find that there was no login - only permanent cookie. This meant that I couldn't use h2g2 as I share a connection and machines. I went away.
Next time, I returned to find Alabaster. It wasn't new for the other people - but I'd been away, Rupert had passed, and the login system had advanced somewhat. Not that I could remember the details to regain my old, coveted UID.
