A Conversation for Writing
I live in various forms of confusion, but when I write, I gain a sort of clarilty that I wish for in my life.

Hello. I'm sorry you think so much of this is frivolous.
We don't use our real names because that would make it easier for some sicko to track us down. Those who do use their real names, like JohnW.Fulton, have a confidence that many of us lack. Also, our given names have been with us all our lives and some of us would like to choose one for ourselves. It's a character thing, too. The nicknames in many cases allow you to know at a glance which clique or hobby the person is involved in. It is also a way of being flamboyant in anonymity. Life has so many mundane aspects, it is nice to be able to at least pretend to be a peacock or a clown online.
As for the way this place works, you know that I have indicated a level of uncertainty and confusion. That doesn't mean it shouldn't work that way. I just would like to know how it works.
Anyway. Keep trying. I have.
