A Conversation for Artificial Intelligence

Hi,

I like the presentation and swiftness of the article, but disagree with the definition as stated: "A computer or computer program with the ability to compute in a way that simulates human thought".

Mirriam Websters Online Dictionary (http://www.m-w.com/) gives the following two definitions:

Artificial: humanly contrived often on a natural model.

Intelligence: the ability to learn or understand or to deal with new or trying situations, also the skilled use of reason

What I am disagreeing with is that it needs to be a computer and that it needs to simulate human thought. Sorry smiley - smiley

I think a better definition might run along the lines of

"A self-aware machine which demonstrates the ability to reason, learn and think abstractly. The most popular idea for creating one is to use a computer to simulate human thought."

Hopefully this will still slot into the article nicely ...

Dan.

Damn, the parser turned the ')' into part of the dictionary link, which should have been http://www.m-w.com/ ...

At least the Guide isn't showing any signs of becoming intelligent smiley - winkeye
