Some while back, when out on a walk with some friends of mine we all agreed to stop at a Public House for an drink before returning home.
Upon arrival at the Pub we chose, we found that it was not due to open for a few minutes. So we decided to take a seat in the garden and wait there. As I led the way across the grass towards the benches I noticed a phalanx of white geese heading straight towards me. Unaware of the danger, I proceeded towards the benches only to have them close in and have the leader peck me on my inner thigh. The others immediately set about me as I danced around the garden, attaching themselves to my jacket and trousers. I finally got it together and beat a hasty retreat over the hedge, whereby I managed to shake them off effecting my escape.
My friends were highly entertained by the sight of all this, and wryly commended me on my improvised technique. All that I could remember was the sense of surprise, pain and blind panic. But they assure me that it was very very silly and I belive them.
The huge bruise I incurred did not completely fade away for several days.
