I came across this article when using the IID, and thought it looked promising, if given some TLC. Its a copy of http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/A401257. All comments/additions welcome.

Hmm, how about adding some stuff about the modern high-tech rucksacks?
Those pure sacks were putting all their weight on your shoulders which resulted in a backache on long hauls. The modern ones are built around a metal girder contraption with a hip belt which brings the weight to rest on your pelvis while the shoulder belts only serve to keep the thing in place. Ok, the belt is mentioned already, but the rucksack's own 'spine' would need to be covered.

The health of one's intervertebral disk should be worth the extra money.

I'm going to revise this any day now, so anymore suggestions from anyone other than Bossel are welcome. Time to do some work, all you Scouts!

You should leave some work for the others. Although I've got an excuse for not doing anything, since I've had exams. smiley - biggrin

this I will only recognise if you're planning on becoming member of the h2g2 italic staff. What else could a good exam result be good for?

Hey, have you seen F48874?thread=194111 / A781689 - Internal Frame Backpacks: A User's Guide ?

Looks like this article about the basic thing gets overtaken by an entry about a special variety smiley - whistle
