Not what you might be thinking . This entry actually does contain some contents about the famous phrase.

Gnomon - time to move on Posted Dec 19, 2001
This is an interesting entry. I like it!
The three examples cause problems with the formatting on my browser. Are you using PRE tags to make it look more like a manual? Better not! Because there are no end-of-line breaks in that long philosophical line, the browser stretches the page to make it fit. If you do this in normal text, it will allow the browser to jump onto a new line and put that sentence on more than one line.

Did you really find that pedantic version in a manual? It looks like you made it up. You should rephrase the introduction to it so that it is clear whether it is genuine or made up by the author of the entry.

Good stuff Bossel - it should go in. I have read many manuals with 'this page intentially laft blank' and often wondered at the truth of the statement. Perhaps 'This is the only writing on this page' would be more to the point.

Nice entry. Might be worth a mention that the phrase is one of the most reasuring to appear in exam scripts. Nothing worse taht a blank page in an exam........except the page with the questions.....but that's a whole nother story.

Gnomon, the pedantic version was supplied by Lucinda, I myself haven't come across that one.
Thanks all!

I have found a major problem with this article.
It hasn't been edited yet!
Hopefully, an error that will be fixed very soon.

Sorry Bossel, I couldn't resist it
I can't see anyhing at all wrong with this entry so far. A great read well worthy of a place in the Edited Guide.

Excellent stuff Bossel,
Now a question, how come you've time to write articles, shouldn't you be getting on with all the scouting work that the rest of us lazy scouts can't be bothered to do?
(In case there are any non-scouts reading this thread - PR would probably grind to a halt if Bossel's computer ever broke down).

Zarquon's Singing Fish! Posted Dec 19, 2001
I never cease to be amazed at the variety of subjects covered!
If you've extended into silence or blankness in general at the end, you might consider mentioning the piece of music which is four minutes and (I forget how many minutes) of silence. Can't remember the composer, either, but it is famous. Can anyone else remember?

Azara Posted Dec 19, 2001
The silent piece of music is 4'33" by John Cage. I think it would be a bit of a tangent for this entry, though.
I like this entry just the way it is.

There was a thread about this in the backbytes column of 'Computing' a while ago, does anyone else remember it?
Great article Bossel, I'll have to go through the WW and find your stashed entries! Just don't go breaking your computer now!
Now, are those manual pages an intentional reference to IBM?

Hi Bossel,
This is good. A funny idea well executed. Nice one.
You pleaded for Denglish, so I've done my best.
>>need to be composed such that - I think 'so that' is better here, or perhaps even 'in such a way that'. Otherwise, you have to completely rejig the sentence. I don't like 'such that' though.
>>phone switch - What do you mean by phone switch. It sounds good next to 'combine harvester' but I don't know what it is!
That's all I could manage for you, I'm afraid.

This is from MaW
when I wo*ked for a large jam making company the factory proceedures manuals contained intentionally blank pages but we avoided all this confusion by simply putting "blank page" on them.
This is from FABT
But then they're not blank
MaW
well, you can add that.
